Dr. Timothy J. Shaffer is an award winning scholar recognized for bringing research-based insights about complex community problems to diverse audiences. He is the inaugural Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) Chair of Civil Discourse in the Joseph R. Biden, Jr. School of Public Policy and Administration with a joint appointment in the Department of Communication at the University of Delaware as well as director of civic engagement and deliberative democracy with the National Institute for Civil Discourse at the University of Arizona.

During a time when people feel deeply divided in their communities, workplaces, and organizations, it is important to be able to navigate through those perceived and/or real tensions and find understanding or resolution.
